1989 Schwinn LeTour

Anyone have experience with this model and year? Looks to be in great shape. I listed the specs below. Probably needs a full service and new bar wraps.

Pre covid - $200 -250 as pictured for the right buyer.

the darn thing just hasnt been ridden has it

prices spiked for a while, but have settled down so my guess would still be that range . Mainly due to it being so fresh in appearance , but its also pretty small, so a great bike for a you gster , or somebody in the 5’5 to 5’8 range . But there are plenty of us out there

Thanks! Do you think the frame is small? I was leaning toward 23".

Not that small of a frame. It depends what your inseam is and what your preference is?

I am 5'10" with a 33 inseam and I ride anywhere between a 22 and a 25 inch frame.

Looks to be in very nice shape.

If the rims are not bent and it shifts good and ride good I think 170.00 - $ 200.00 is pretty fair.

Depends how old the tires, and chain are.

And check to make sure the freewheel ( rear cog) has " squared off tips and not shaped like a shark fin .

I have made the mistake, though minor, of not checking this and needed to replace. They are not that expensive, and a fresh new chain and freewheel is always a good thing !!!

Looks to be a VERY clean bike !!

Good Luck

Rims are true, freewheel is like new, tires are new, chain is like new. I don't think this bike has 10 miles on it. I'll get a better look at it later on,

I'd say the one you're interested in is a 21" frame.

A 23" frame has room for 4 fingers on the head tube between the top tube and the down tube.

You may get more for it if you can sell it in Mississippi. The Letour and some other Schwinn road bikes were made in Greenville, MS during the 1980s.

I've been meaning to dig out this thread on '89 LeTour's that I think will give you some good info on what a good bike the '89 model was, with several improvements over earlier LeTours.

I had an '89 LeTour that I picked up in horrific shape for last year's Clunker Challenge, It was an awesome bike, but alas, just too small for me!
