King Iris styled Trek water bottle cage
I found these today and was wondering if anybody knew anything about them.

Other than the fact that you should buy them from King Cages rather than give Trek $15 for knockoffs, no.

I've had them on my Borthwick for .... 10 years?
Seem to be doing just fine.
I have them because I was given a gift certificate to the local Trek shop. Otherwise, I tend to use the traditional cage from King. The Trek cages work fine for me, though.

I like the design, I’m just a touch curious who was the first to make this style.

I can’t say who made them first but you can find King Cage Iris reviews going back to 2006. My own pair go back to about then and I don’t recall seeing any other brand out there with the same configuration. Considering that the cages aren’t that expensive from King, I just can’t see giving Trek money for what looks like an inferior product. The ones in your picture look to be aluminum and, frankly, look a bit misaligned.

They must work much better to retain bottles as the big side loops gives a lot of lateral stability.
Can't get used to how they look on a bike though. As they tend to look bigger than the older traditional design cages.
