Haven't decided on pedals yet. Really don't like toe clips and straps but not buying a 6yo shoes and pedals which I don't think he can safely use anyways. Just waiting on rims, tires and tubes. Gold spoke nipples will round things out. Just glad he wanted gold, lots available really affordably.

Me too, but that's why I do it for them. I'm hoping they stick with it but whatever they decide to do will be up to them. For now it means more riding even if its slower.

Tires showed up after dark but we had to go try it at the running track at the school across the street. The steering was twitchier then he's used to and caused some problems especially with the fact he couldn't coast. I'll be tossing a rear brake and freewheel on for getting him used to riding the bike. Also going to try a 50mm stem instead of the 35 that's on there but his reach looked good.

Special shout out to Bikegang in the UK who came through for me on the tires. Hope I can pass on the favor someday soon and hope to stop by and say thanks in person in the next couple years.

The 349 Joseph Kuosac tyres look so big on this mini bike ... nice job!!!

What size are the crank arms? More photos please when all done.

Crank arms are 102mm and are from spawn bikes in Canada. I bought them for my middle son's 20" giant and while they were better then the 145s that came with they were a little short for him and he's onto a 24" bike so it seemed like a good swipe.

Well done, my friend, the bike is really nice and it appears that "your little cyclist" approves it; loving the smile on the kid! May you all have many happy afternoons riding!

had some successful time on the track today. The times on the MUP have paid off well and he's loving the bike. We'll be flipping the wheel the next time out and running fixie to get him used to it.

It is looking good, and the tires look really good, better than I imagined.

How long do you reckon before you have to start building a larger bike for him?

He's kinda runty like his sister, at his age my middle kid was already on a 20" bike and didn't even need the seat down. I'm guessing at least a year. His 16" mtb is starting to look a touch small but really that means Xmas at the earliest before he moves up and the track bike is slightly bigger so unless there's some drastic growth I've got time.

Thanks again to bike.gang.uk for the tires to wrap this up, he's giving them their mileage.
