I place high value on having good relationships with my shops. When I come in for service and repairs, I get pretty fast treatment – they often do work while I wait, which is convenient since I live a fair distance from the city. They also have gone to bat for me on warranty issues and such - one shop even got me a new wheel when the original one failed, even though we were past the warranty period. They wanted to do it. In fact, the last shop from which I bought a new bike has given me unbelievable after-the-sale service. This is all extra valuable to me because, unlike the OP, I’m willing to admit that I am not much of a bike mechanic.
I suspect these shops are willing to give me such great treatment because I pay the asking price and don’t haggle as if we are in a Third World country. I also routinely bring beer and snacks for the mechanics and just give them cash tips occasionally.
If you are not cheap with people, and treat them as if they actually deserve to make a decent living, they will, in turn, treat you very nicely.

well thanks for your post, but after 5 pages of “are you crazy bike shop owners have to make a living! How could you even think of negotiating” I am tired. Yes they have to make a living but I’m not going to pity them and treat them like Girl Scouts who sell overpriced cookies.

if I’m gonna get a much better deal in 9 months then I’m gonna wait tbh. Not gonna get ass ***d by paying MSRP for a bike. are you kidding? Canyon seems like the best deal.
