2019 Specialized Roubaix Comp Carbon Di2 with about 3,000 miles. During today's abbreviated ride, I lost power to both shifters, Figured, "OK, time to charge it again. My bad."

Plugged it in. "Charging" LED on charging unit come on and tells me, ""Yup, charging." I wait a couple of hours. Nothing. Checked all the connections I could get to, and they're all snapped in.

Hit up E-Tube Project and did a rear derailleur adjustment...derailleur works fine...shifts via PC and cable. Also showed that battery status was nearly fully charged.

Still no shift from the levers. Damn.

Any ideas appreciated. Bike is about 18 months old.

Interestingly enough, I had the same situation with the same bike earlier this summer. Unplugged and plugged-in every connection multiple times and the last time I did it the thing started working again. Makes no sense, just one of those electrical gremlins we all fear happening with this stuff. Hopefully it does not show up again.

Verify the cables are fully seated in the shifters.

If whomever assembled the bike lived a Good Clean Life, they left some swag on the cables so the don't get pulled out in case of crash etc...Because if the cables are taught into the shifter, and the lever gets bumped out of orientation, it can get unplugged.

Just did the crash mode reset...in case...and it behaved as it should. I did basically the same thing TiHabanero and Marcus Ti suggested...

So far, so good. Perhaps its memory goes a bit out of whack when the battery discharges to a very low level?

Oh, well...so far, so good. The Roam got ridden today, as it was finally almost what passes for cool here in Phoenix...mid-eighties with cloud cover. Days like this are not to be missed in these parts.

If you've been using E-Tube Project v 4.0.2 - I recommend you don't until Shimano fix it.

I second this. It drained my battery even though I hit the disconnect button before removing the cable however it does not return the system normal riding mode and will drain the battery. Lesson learned. Check the bike will actually respond after removing the cable. Use the old version if you need to use the PC E-tube app. Luckily, when you install 4.0.2 it leaves the previous version alone so you can still use it.

The program I used is Etube Project Normal V4.

Everything worked fine for me...a non-power user.

If not too much of a hassle, check around your junction box. Not too sure where Specialized keeps theirs. Pretty sure a protective sleeve under the bottom bracket.

I’ve tested Di2 before with no signs of errors and all up to date only to find a crammed/exposed wire that once running fully, gives the users some problems.

Id also peel back the hoods and just ensure that your left cable in plugged in as well as the right’s two cables. Those tend to get pulled out from constant turning of the handlebar and your grip on the tape.

Are you using the correct wall plug? If you are using a plug that does not have the required AMPs it will not charge your battery.

Problem rectified. Still don't know why it wasn't charging correctly on the first try...connections were all nice and snug. but...I had let it discharge almost all the way. That won't happen again.

Yeah, seeing as how annoying electrical issues are with a car, I don't want that stuff anywhere near my bike. Nor do I want to have to think about the current "battery life" of yet another electronic device, ffs..

Part of this thread has users reporting issues with version 4.02. It seemingly does not "disconnect" correctly and essentially bricks the system temporarily. The workaround is to either use a version before 4.02 or re-connect, which then allows the disconnect to do it's thing.

I would guess this was a control / software glitch. You can program what each shifter and button does so maybe it just lost that info till rebooted.

Dude, it's not 1985 anymore. Japanese cars are no more reliable than any other cars on the road.

And don't get me started on my Honda CBR600F4i that couldn't hold a battery charge with the headlight turned on...
