Weak sauce. Even more reason to bring my wheels indoors whenever I can.

Great video. Definitely true that most people don't give a sh*t and a good lesson everyone should be concerned about.
I wish he had used a U-lock in his video though. Ya, it would have been more expensive for them but it would be more realistic (I think). At least in the Boston area, most people use some type of U lock. They are harder to break in general and might be noticed by more people.
Thanks for the video and props to the guys that made it.

guy looks more like someone who lost his keys. i guess most people thought no one would steal a bike in the wide open of rush hour.

or they just don't care.

People die everywhere, all the time, every second of the day.

What's your point?

Maybe you should tell me why eating meat is bad too?

i am not surprised nobody did/said anything. people keep to there selves in this city and there is a general fear in getting into other peoples business. most peoples attitude is well its not my bike and i am running late to get here or there or what have you (thinking about themselves and not looking out/caring about the good of others). i can tell you that if i passed such a scene i surly would get involved and ask the guy what he is doing, try to flag down a cop etc. I use to evolution mini's on my bike (one going through back wheel/frame, the other front wheel to frame) and have yet to have a problem here in NYC. A bike with 2 u-locks screams "don't **** with me" to passing thieves because there are tons of bikes (decent ones too) always on the same block or within a block with cable locks, home depot chains or generally poor locking methods. Your never completely safe though in this city as the video proves. Don't get me wrong bike theft could happen to anyone but your improving your odds dramatically with 2 high quality U-locks as opposed to the crappy chain lock used in this video.

I'm not surprised either. My lock was cut on a VERY busy street in SF midday last week. I don't think the average person, thinking about their safety, would intervene in a bike theft. Maybe someone the police from their cel phone if you're lucky.

Does anyone really need to make that video to show that most NYers only care about themselves and their own ****?
That fact has been established for decades.
