Hi there,
Just got this Lemond from a friend who picked it up at a police auction. It was obviously stolen at some point. I am having trouble indentifying the model, and any help would be appreciated. I have looked on bikeapedia and can't seem to match it up to anything. It has the SSR Bontrager rims that don't show up on the Lemond bikes till 2008. Also the frame configuration is different than anything I am seeing. It is carbon and aluminum, but the models I am seeing on bikeapedia the top tube and upper rear stays are carbon, and the lower frame is aluminum. This bike the entire back of the frame is carbon, and the front of the frame is aluminum. My friend says it a Versailles, but I dont think he's right. Any help would be awesome. I can provide better pictures and more detailed information on components if needed.

Greg Lemond was a true American hero in my opinion. At least he wasn't a cheat. Trek and Lance Armstrong can go die as far as I am concerned. Live Strong! Hahahaha!

I think I may have answered my own question. Is it the Alpe d'Huez Triple? The frame is the same configuration, just the wheelset doesn't match. It says Bontrager select, is that a model of wheel or just means what they felt like putting on it?

Yes. This is exactly what it is. Components all match perfectly. So what makes it a womens bike exactly? There's no down angled top tube, it's not pink? I don't get it.

Wheelsets are probably one of the least reliable means of identifying bikes, particularly higher-end performance models where owners are sometimes quick to change them out.

Don't confuse modern womens specific frames with older style mixte frames. Generally, for two people of the same height, a woman will have longer legs and a shorter torso. So some brands will slightly shorten the top tube and slacken the angle of the seat tube to make a bike that fits a woman more precisely. My wife has a Trek Madone WSD- they also have a taller head tube than the mens model has. That being said, Lemond frames tend to have a longer top tube than some other brands, so unless you have a really long torso or gorilla arms, this bike may fit just fine.

Thanks dude. This bike is actually very comfortable for me. I have a short inseam 29", and I am 5"11', so I do have a long upper torso, but the bike feels good for someone of my size. I am always being told I need a bigger bike till they see my inseam.
