That is really cool, and definitely worth $340. This guy could probably sell custom picnic baskets like that on etsy for $300 easy; all he would need to make an accurate insert would be a picture of the frame with a ruler held on the top tube. Maybe $20 worth of materials, and a good woodworker could with practice knock these out in probably an hour each.

Yeah, rare doesn't always = collectible. Sometimes it just means people didn't want them in the first place.

So dude advertising the bike (some missing parts) for $300 for the whole bike, or $150 for the frame and fork.

I need parts, offer $150, think I'm good. Dude says, naah that would be too expensive for him to replace the parts....yadda yadda

I dont get it.

[h=2]Sweet Road Bike, Great for Running from Zombies - $100 (Eastside Costa Mesa)[/h]

© craigslist - Map data © OpenStreetMap

2541 Elden Ave
(google map) (yahoo map)

condition: good size / dimensions: 49 cm

You don't have a bike. Damn.

What the hell are you supposed to do in the event of a Zombie Apocalypse? Run? Hell no.
Unless you're an endurance athlete, you're going to need a speedy getaway vehicle.

You can't rely on a car, because you'll run out of gas pretty quickly. It's too risky to stop at a gas station and fill up because Zombies love gas stations. You'll be undead before you know it.

You need a sweet road bike. Preferably a light one. Chrome-moly, perhaps.

But where the hell will you procure such an item?

Craigslist.

Here is my proposed solution:

The Nashiki Road Bike.

It's got a gray chrome-moly frame that's light and sturdy, so it won't weigh you down when you're running for your life.

The handle bars are cushioned with some cushy stuff, which is nice, but it's coming apart a little. You might want to tape it up if you're picky.

There is a brand new cushy seat for your riding enjoyment. Ain't nobody got time for that bruised-ass nonsense.

It's been tuned up somewhat recently.

It's kind of old, which only adds to its distinguished charm. The kids are calling that 'vintage' these days. Technically I should be charging more for that.

This bike is zombie-proof. I have installed an inaudible zombie-repelling vibrational mechanism in the bike's frame. Zombies hate it. It will save your life.

I will accept $100 via cash or paypal. I am also willing to trade for the following items:

-14 lbs of 100% grass fed beef
-24 lbs of raw honey
-Quadcopters
-Tesla stock

If you have questions, shoot me an email. Serious inquiries only.

One of my pet peeves is when people mislabel bikes, but I suppose sellers skirt around saying "mountain bike" because their value is comparatively low. Two examples:

[h=2]ROAD BIKE by Fuji for a taller person - $238 (Uptown, Minneapolis)[/h]ROAD BIKE by Fuji for a taller person

To me, the all caps sounds like they're trying to be extra convincing. "But hey, wait- look at those big, knobby-" "ROAD BIKE!"

[h=2]Vintage BMX** - $325 (Mahtomedi)[/h]
Vintage BMX**

Their ad copy illustrates a deep confusion:

"****1980's Specialize Stumpjumper****Completely original.
These came with the sick groupo.
Cleaned/greased/handled with Love.
Few scratches, no dents.

Firm, no trades."

Really, BMX? 80's?

(UPDATE) Still available. Still ugly as sin. Price in full-on freefall.

[h=2]Vintage Schwinn Paramount Aluminum Bicycle - $375 (Tualatin)[/h]

Vintage race bike made for racers on the Schwinn team. I had it custom painted in 1992 by Blowsion colors in Tualatin (Blowsion) . Instead of decals Jonny wanted to hand paint the text. It turned out really nice. Built with new Dura Ace 7400 8sp group when it came out in about 1996/1997. About 100 miles on group. Brakes have 0 miles on them. Added Carbon brakes when they first came out. 54cm-56cm frame depending on how you measure (see photos). 55cm top tube 145cm head tube 73 deg geometry. Bike hasn't been ridden since 1997, just been hangin' in the garage. I'll include a pair of older, high miles clincher wheels; ultegra hubs laced to 700c Mavic Open 4cd rims, original dura ace wheels not included show contact info I'd like to see this go this weekend.

This guy started at like $180 I think? I contacted him then, and notified him they were dangerous. I was chastised and told I didn't know what I was talking about, that they sell for $200 each in this condition all the time. He doesn't seem to think so now? That was a year ago.,,,,BD

Here's one. Maybe I just don't understand the appeal, or maybe the seller doesn't actually mean to sell it and is just posting it to appease a spouse angry about too many bikes ('I listed it but it didn't sell... better keep it!'), but I don't think this is going to sell anytime soon, at least not with these components:

If it wasn't for the stem and the bartape, it might be acceptable, in a "this was totally rad in the 80's" sort of way.
