Sheldon Brown's "five and five" bicycle.
I'm curious about Sheldon Brown's "five and five" bicycle:Do I understand correctly that it had five cogs on each side? I see only a left side cluster.
How did it transfer the drive side. I assume one side had higher ratios.

Why buy the kit? You can get the same results if you completely disassemble the chain as shown and then soak in PTFE grease. Although prior to re-assembly I also dip the individual segments into a PTFE powder so it's not all runny. Like fried chicken, the wet and dry coats combine to help the PTFE coating stay on longer. I do this about every other month depending on mileage and I average about an extra 5 watts after adopting this regime.

I would have loved to meet Sheldon Brown in my lifetime, but it likely won't happy. What an icon.

I called the shop, the guy I talked to sounded annoyed saying he could be difficult - I admire it for the sake that he was passionate. Like you I would have enoyed meeting him.

Biopace was this ******** idea for a crank. It had elipsoid shaped chain rings to supposedly help with low end torque or climbing. It also allows mid range speed. I have one on my bike and I hate it, and I know it's making the bike slow. The emails are from the year 2005.
