Your shoe size and your Northwave cycling shoe size...
... or how do Northwaves run for size? I am size 11US and not sure whether to go 45 or 46 here.

From my experience, the shoe size chart on CC is accurate. They say a 48 Northwave is a 14, and it is. Almost every other brand I find a 48 too small (usually listed as 13.5 or 13.75) and a 49 too big (even if listed as a 14), so I have found Northwave to be true to their published numbers. Specialized is true to their numbers as well. Others not so much.

I wear a US size 9, and both my Shimano R087s and my Northwave winter boots are 43.

Northwaves have a different last than Sidi or Shimano shoes. Specifically, the last used in Northwave shoes is one of the few that can accomodate people with longer metatarsals than average for a given total foot length. In other words, if the ball of your foot is closer to the end of your foot (or maybe shorter toes) than the average person, Northwaves could fit you extremely well.
Obviously, Northwave fit other foot geometries as well but I can't find a Sidi that works well for me whereas Northwave are nearly flawless. I wear a 14 US shoe size and 48 Northwave and my metatarsals are a little longer than average (my metatarsals are about the length of a size-15 foot but the whole foot length is 'just' 14)

Used to wear Bontragers in 44 (size 10), Northwave in that size was way too big. Went down to 43 and it was fine.

I had heard that Northwave changed their sizing to be more consistent with other brands around 2012-13.
I wish we could all go by actual length of foot versus a mythical inconsistent number

To avoid confusion on what you mean.. are you saying this size chart on Northwave's site is wrong by a full size? i didn't find this to be the case for my size. https://northwave.us/collections/roa...e-extreme-pro#

I just bought a pair of the NW Extreme Pro 2 and for sub $200 I think it's a great value for a dual BOA "like" system shoe BUT the quality, breathable, and heel fit leave room for improvement. IMO I always suggest getting the best shoe possible since cycling shoes last for many years. I would take these over some Shimano RC5 but would take the Shimano RC7 over these. My personally have two pairs of RC903 S-Phyre as my main shoes and unfortunately the Northwave's can't hold a candle to those, granted you can get Northwaves for a fraction of the price
