Wife wants to stalk me while out riding.

Find my Friends
Glympse
Both are free. Glympse is much more specific and accurate and also uses more battery power.
We use Find My Friends for the whole family. Stops a lot of needless phone calling and it's always on.

I run it when I'm doing a solo ride and send my wife the link. If I'm past due, at least she knows where my phone is!

So, is this is an app that will be on your phone, will you only use it during rides, or will the wife want you to leave it on all the time? And will she also have this app on her phone so you can see her every move? If so, this is kinda creepy. I understand if you're out riding solo, especially if you've had a crash or two.

If she wants this for rides you're doing solo (or might need support) plus it will alleviate her worries, it seems a reasonable request.
Remember that if you ride in a rural area and might end up in a place without cell signal, you really need a system that's based on GPS (actual satellite), not cell reception.

I use it all the time, and had put my phone in the car during a race and was warming up and kept coming into and out of range of my phone in the car so it kept connecting and disconnecting.

It's only for riding..and really it's only for her to find me when I get into some mechanical or scary weather and need her to pick me up. It's happend a few times in the past so in that sense it is a good idea. She also has crazy anxiety about me riding on public roads; so really, it's to help her alleviate that.

I use this. Came in handy a couple of years ago when I sent my wife a text that I had about 40 miles to go and used the abbreviation "mi". My wife thought I meant 40 minutes and started freaking out, especially when I didn't hear or feel the phone ringing and vibrating. She finally used the app to see where I was and that I was moving down the road towards home. Could not believe she didn't know mi = miles and min = minutes.
But, it works.

And that.... is the correct answer. Stop in at your phone store if you don't know how to set up the passwords and aren't using apps from the app store or music downloads. "Find My IPhone" is a free apple app.... already on your phones. And your wife will be able to locate you (actually just your PHONE) anytime she wishes.

Find My iPhone is a lot easier to deal with and does pretty much exactly the same thing (uses the same internal mechanism). You don't have to log into anything and it doesn't matter if you are on the same iCloud account or not.
About a month ago, my son went out on a ride. A thunderstorm came in and there was severe weather coming behind it that he would not be able to see given the valley he was in. I got in the car, followed Find My Friends and found him. Loaded up the bike and got him out of there just before the severe thunderstorm hit with serious straight line winds. He would have been hurt otherwise.

I thought this was about some kinky role playing.
Imagine my disappointment.

That one is good. My wife and I use RealTimeGPSTracker but I think it's only for android. It shows my current speed. She knows if I haven't moved in a while that it might be time to send an ambulance to that location.
For all the people hating on the idea...my wife uses it to see when I'll be home and often has lunch waiting for me when I return.

Glympse came in handy last week. I managed not only one crash but two and had to send my wife a Glympse locate to come and pick my bleeding backside up.
My wife and I both ride so Glympse and Real Time Tracker come in handy. It's nice to come rolling up to the house and be met with a freshly made protein smoothie.

I've got a Spot Tracker for just that reason. It works great, but I tend to forget it on regular rides. I just tried RoadID tracker but it drained my battery in under 3 hours. That's the trouble with most phone apps.

I've got one of these on at all times-
The battery is good for a year or so. They don't make a carbon version, so it's a few extra grams.
Seriously, my wife and I had this same talk after I got home late from a morning ride (by about 20 minutes, thanks to a flat and a wrong turn). She had called several hospitals asking if a cyclist had been brought there, she's terrified that I'm going to be hit by a car. She asked me to figure out a way to let her know where I am. I already use Cyclemeter on my iphone to track my rides with GPS, so I set that app up to send her an email every 15 minutes with my location and ride information. That lets her know if I've stopped for longer than expected and generally that I'm not in a hospital or at the bottom of a river. Peace of mind.
