it is difficult to tell for sure from the image but item appears to exhibit a metal dust cover which would make it late type or second generation
first generation launched in 1973 and shows a black polypropelene dust cover

Yes, they are silver. These were from a TREK build in 1984 or 1985. I think the front wheel of a 660..
