They oil (?) the roads here in Arizona. At least, parts of Route 66. About 2 or 3 months ago, I rode up behind a crew doing it. It's really messy, if you don't give it time to dry some, before walking or driving on it. I finally wised up, and took a couple hours' break, to let them get way ahead. 😉

Bad pic (it ran off before I could get a good one) but found an admirer on the side of the road.

(it was a residential neighborhood, assuming it was someone's outdoor cat)

I have no picture, so I guess it didn't happen.

Let me start by saying, I average about 13,000 miles a year on a bike and live in NY. So, I pretty much have seen everything. From knife fights to nude sunbathers. But...

Today I saw a woman jogging, topless. A first for me.

that reminds me that I saw a bunch of wind turbine blades on a river barge while it was going through a lock on the Mississippi river near St. Louis.

and we have plenty of the assembled wind turbines here, scattered through the corn fields. In addition to reducing the amount of coal burned at the local power plant, I like to think that the wind turbines are improving my life by blocking some of the wind, especially during windy bike rides in the fall and spring.

There’s Johnny Gage played by Randolph Mantooth

Roy DeSoto played by the guy who owned the Double Deuce in Roadhouse.

Dr Joe Early played by Bobby Troupe

Dixie was played by Julie London- Julie London was an accomplished jazz singer- a slew of hit records in the 50s and 60s. She was married to Bobby Troupe.

Then there was the guy with the moustache- played by the guy with a moustache that wasn’t Gene Shallit.

And, of course, Dr Brackett- back from when you could accept authoritative medical advice from a 3 pack a day smoker.

Roy DeSoto was played by Kevin Tighe.

In a pasture, just west of Farmersville, Ohio. You don't see zebras very often around here.

Yeah, that role seemed completely wrong for him, after "Emergency". Respect the type-casters. 🤔😉

Dang. One of the aphorisms passed down through the years to medical students learning diagnosis ("around here" anyway) is not to jump first to some rare disease they spent a lot of time teaching in medical school but to think of common things first (like "heart attack", not "Kawasaki disease".) "When you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras." A rare exotic disease is even called a "zebra" in doctor slang. Guess I'd have to change my tune in Farmersville.

And contemporaneously with Route 66, the way to go in style from Chicago to L.A., was....

My parents had the Bing Crosby recording, but I think the Andrews Sisters' version is snappier.
