Clip of my close call featured on Cycliq October highlights. :)
I know a lot of riders here video record their rides. I haven't had any incidents that resulted in impact/crashes since I started recording, but I've had a few close calls. Only one I reported to the local authorities, but nothing came of it that I know of.
I was in my velomobile, my clip is at about 1:17.

I've lived all over the US, and I think the further southeast I go, the worse the drivers get. Here in FL, between the snowbirds, and just the general age of the population (many of whom shouldn't be driving), it is really bad.

I ride to relax and enjoy - your route wouldn’t work for me.
Be safe!

Well, you could tell in advance that car was pulling out right in front of you, but you kept your speed, you didn't brake, you swerved out into traffic into the next lane. That driver could have very well turned right into your lane. But, you had the right of way... I call that being "Dead Right".....which is how it could have ended.
Next time consider putting the brakes on. You will live longer.

Glad you are safe. I don't know how some can comment and criticize on what you did since most of us don't know the stopping distance of that thing you were traveling in. Nor do we know if you were aware that the other traffic lane on your left was empty. So good for you on avoiding what could have been a bad situation.
What strikes me the most is in the first video, that some or most roads in foreign countries have two way traffic lanes that are denoted with a white center stripe instead of a yellow stripe as we have here in the USA. That'd confuse the heck out of me whether I was in a car or on a bicycle.
