Thought I'd posted in this thread but it must have been a different one. Looks like many of you have changed your avatar since describing what it was at the time of the post.

User name is from another forum where, at the time I joined, I was riding a KLR 650; a big 4-stroke single otherwise known as a thumper. I describe thumpism as a motorcycling philosophy or belief.

The avatar is a pic of my Raleigh Sports stem and a sticker I found for it at an old job working IT at a large company doing an equipment rollout, basically replacing 1/3 of the desktop machines each year. This was in '02 so we were replacing machines that had been checked and approved for use for Y2K and its anticipated bug. Y2K COMPLIANT also seemed to apply to the Raleigh, which has survived almost as long after Y2K as it did leading up to it.

DMC707

my name - Doug McBride plus my favorite number - 707

The number is from a horse my dad had growing up, Mr 707. I dislike horses. Theyre unpredictable flighty animals for the most part, but Mr 707 was a former racehorse turned stud who got old and mellow and was the perfect companion for a greenhorn kid --- He just loped along at his own pace and never got in a hurry . A true gentle soul and i ill remember that critter always

I'm old, I pedal a bike and I also peddle the odd bike parts, mountain bikes and guitar gear I no longer need. The avatar is my 1970 Holdsworth Mistral (not for sale!).

I started my account while I was in college and for ease I just used the same dumb email/username issued to me by my school. A combo of my last name and first initial. Yawn. If I were to do make up a new one today it would be something awesome like B33f$tew or something.

My name is John, and Johnny Ace is one of my wife's pet names for me. My avatar is Eddy Merckx and the Michelin man, which is a pretty funny image, to me anyway. I keep thinking of changing it, but meh, I can't really be motivated to do so.

Re: johnnyace... I think we were listening to this when my wife started calling me that:

my user name is totally unimaginative as it’s a combo of last name and first initial. However, I’d like to hear from fooferdoggie as I chuckle every time I see a post from him.

cheers.

My logo is the fix gear TiCycles built for me. Photo is by Cycle Oregon's Photographer Dean, 2014, riding up a 14% grade on a 42-17. (I thought the big hill was one later. You can see the 23 tooth cog I intended to use on the other side. By the time I realized this was the big one, I was committed and it was too steep to stop and start.) You can see the bag of my sandals under the DT (so I could give my feet a break at rest stops; I had real issues pulling up that hard on those d***ed straps. They were cut off and laces installed after the ride. On the top tube is the chainwhip. Earlier I used a 12 tooth.

Edit: Rats. My logo pic didn't come in. Too bad. It's a cool photo.

Saw the thread (again, got reminded I now know how to post pictures, sok:

Like my Peter Mooney has the name "Pete", this bike is Jessica J. (J because it's my second Jessica.) These are the only bikes I've ever named. Actually I didn't name them. I simply realized that was their name.

Kabuki12 because the first real light weight bike I bought was my Kabuki Diamond Formula and it was a 12 speed. That was a big deal back in the late seventies. I still have it and my photo avatar is me on it in Paso Robles at Eroica California pre-ride. Photo by Northbend Matt

My first light weight still rolling along!

My user name is shrouded in secrecy and shall remain a mystery to all. My avatar is a picture of an actual street sign in Portland. Someone may have enhanced it at some point, but it was done on the actual sign, not in Photoshop.

My avatar is my primary ride (with my clothes on). My user name is that of an erstwhile dog. (In retrospect this wasn't a great choice.)

I have put this out on the forums before, but my user name is from a previous job where my supervisor called me "mad" during a discussion about pricing of high end wines that I was in charge of at the store. The name kind of stuck and the other co-workers called me Mad Honk. I have used the nick-name on a number of forums including one from my regular professional job of being a golf professional. It seems to fit into my view of things as an old person. Smiles, MH
