After a very slow start to the year, went big in July with 521 miles. The holiday and 31-day month helped with riding time.

I’m about 100 miles ahead of last years YTD - surprising since I didn’t really get riding until May. Going to try to get north of 2500 for the year.

Picked up the mileage a bit the past few months. My wife has been riding with me this year and has really picked up her endurance. What use to be 20 mile rides has turned into 30-35.

Well, a grand total of 30 miles for October - went on one ride after work. Month was incredibly busy. First, my sister from PDX was in for 2 weeks. Right after that, I caught a bug (not 19) that took me out of the game for 10 days. A wedding in Madison ate the last weekend of the month and now we have snow.

Finally getting back in the saddle after a MTB wreck at the end of July. I had hoped for >3000 miles, but now going to be satisfied with 2600.

It's been a good year! The weather hasn't been too crazy, and last winter was relatively mild.
Not a lot of rain this year either, which isn't good for the farmers or the barges on the rivers (river is too shallow to permit full loads), but it was good for cycling.

when do we start counting baked goods eaten while riding? I think I'm doing pretty well this year.

271 miles for November. Figured our a way to squeeze in quick 15 mile rides after work by mapping out routes through suburban neighborhoods. Feels like I’m in a John Hughes film. The houses from Sixteen Candles, Uncle Buck, and Home Alone are all on one of the routes.

705 miles for November.
8818 miles so far for 2023. Breaking 9k for the year seems likely.
I really should be tracking donuts and baked goods eaten while riding.
November closed out with a stop for a donut with Christmas themed sprinkles!

I have to get my car inspected yearly. They mark the mileage on the receipt. And, of course, I keep every receipt. Well, I drove a whopping 169 miles between inspections. Maybe, I should spend more time in my car.

Managed 135 miles in December. Weather was pretty nice for the season. Lost 2 weeks when I caught “you know what” in the middle of the month. Got once last ride for the year on Dec 30 to reach my yearly mileage goal.

Pretty happy with the year. Ended up with about 200 miles more than 2022. Overcame a super slow start and a bad June (wildfire smoke) and October (vacation/bug).
I put together some new, short routes that let me keep riding after work in Nov/Dec. Hoping to carry the short rides over into the new year.

I was on track for a 3000+ year until a MTB wreck sidelined me for 6 weeks. It was a head injury, so I returned tentatively and was more conservative. One of my best recovery rides was with a 76 year old friend who is slower than us “young pups” (who are nearing 50) - but it was the perfect pace and perfect weather (see below) and perfect company.
My new goal became recovery first, then 2400 miles; I achieved both. So all’s well that ends well.
