Twin Cities C&V Summer Ride
Twin Cities C&V'ers,
** Date set for July 16th **
This is an inclusive event with a scenic route designed for a mild challenge (a little easier than last time). We will cover ground between White Bear Lake and Stillwater.
Our main route will be 46 miles (31 out and 15 back). The out route from White Bear Lake to Stillwater will cover most of the same route taken in 2015 (we will skip Chillikoot hill this time around). For the route back this year, we will take the Brown's Creek trail (for an easier after lunch return to WBL).
A shorter out route will be offered for those averse to hills, but who don't mind waiting to re-group in downtown Stillwater.
This is a no sag, "self supported" ride, with many food and beverage options along the way. Not a competition, instead a chance to show off your hardware and mix with oddballs that your significant other doesn't understand.
Leaving from WBL and heading to Stillwater as the "little lunch" stop (lunch somewhere TBD downtown, an earlier rest stop in Marine). Then we head back along an easy route for post ride libations along the shores of beautiful WBL.
Starting time - 9am meet, 9:15 roll off
Starting location - Ramsey County Beach, White Bear Lake (on south side of HY96, a half mile east of HY61)
Que sheets to be published closer to the date.

I can't get up Chillikoot hill in our old F-150 four wheeler, much less riding up it.
Of course I'm in this time.
Can't wait.
Will be a super fun ride.
For out of towners, Pete may have time to build up a neat Tommasini Sintesi I have in time for the ride.
Show up from out of town and you'll have a sweet loaner.
How's that for a bribe.

Darn - unfortunately my calendar already has a mark for family camping on the other side of WI for that weekend. Thanks for getting it started Pete and I'm sure everyone will have an enjoyable ride. Please post pics for those of us who cannot attend. Hope to see y'all in the fall for a ride. I've contemplated a Sconnie brewery ride maybe out of Hudson.............I'll post if I can get a good route together for later in the year.

If I'm in town, I'll be there! But I think I might be up north at a friend's lake cabin, which is a once a year thing. Its near Crosby- lots of bike opportunities...

I would love to ride again, but I am unfortunately out of town on July 9th. Hopefully I can make it with a date switch or in the Fall for another ride!
I was just on the Gateway and Brown's Creek Trail yesterday to Stillwater, it was a gorgeous day!

Count me in! July 9th works for me. And my wife does sort of understand us oddballs.

Once a firm date is set I will see if I can make it. Whenever it is it will take me until then to decide which bike to ride.

Flexible (time-wise) for me. Once the date is settled, I'll get there!

I am good for the 2nd, 16th and 30th. I could do the other Saturdays in a pinc. Loved the ride last year and I have been looking forward to this year. We need to do a couple of these each summer. One is not enough!

It's looking like July 16th is the best fit for most riders. Sorry if that leaves you out, but maybe we'll have another ride in the early fall.
Hope to see the likely suspects there, and will update the thread with all the details as we get closer.

On the calendar.
Thanks for getting this up and going.
Btw I've been bopping out on gravel rides all the time. PM me if you'd like to try that as well.

I've been itching to do my "mini-ragnar" 50 course south of RedWing, so if you're up for climbing... Otherwise, there's the great roads near Welch (with many distance combos). I know just a few of the good rides, so anything is likely to be great. I wasn't able to ride the Almonzo this year, so am looking to get dusty.

A gravel C&V ride sounds pretty fine. Dunno yet if that date works because we need to decide on some vacation dates but I've circled it on my calendar.

I'd be up for a southern MN gravel ride anytime it works. Maybe ride the northern part of the Almonzo course (hilly) or the filthy fifty route (flatter).
But just to clarify the July 16 ride will be on pavement.

Works perfectly for me on the 16th. I will be there. PM me about the gravel ride, too! I would love that. Maybe I will have my Kabuki Submariner gravel ride done. I just finished repainting the non-stainless parts. Assembly starts this week.
Minnesota Randonneurs is having a nice Gravel ride on June 25th out of Rochester. Goes to Plainview, Zumbro Falls and back.
