SRAM S500 brake levers

I know these are just a gutted shift/brake lever unit. Or rather, a shift/brake lever that was never built with the shifting internals. Question is; are the gaps where there would have been a double-tap shift lever attached to all the shifting internals a really noticeable thing? Does it look/feel like an "incomplete" component?

If so, the Cane Creek SCR-5 might be a better option. Thoughts?

I've used SRAM s500, SRAM Red, and Cane Creek SCR-5 levers. I have never felt that the s500s felt like an incomplete component. I prefer them to the Cane Creeks purely based on hood shape, but the Cane Creeks' ability to loosen the brake cable right at the lever is a nice touch.
