Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Speaking of being ancient. I am glad to have not waited any longer to take the Galapagos cruise. The walkabouts on the islands were very difficult. Those lava fields are something else. I wouldn't want to try that trip at 80.

Ronde van Vlaanderen came on at 4:00 AM CDT this morning. Still 111 km to go and I need a nap.

It’s not over, but back from a ride to see I am top of the Strava podium. How do you check the Addiction post count for the week?

Go to the road cycling main page, and in the addiction row, click on the total number of posts. A pop-up appears, giving a breakdown.

In other news, I re-joined the living today. Not only that, but I found a small wallet for which I've been searching for days.

I don't understand. It would have been 11 AM in Belgium when it came on the telly and 5 PM when it was over.

That’s total for the thread, right? Not for a day or week etc., works this week since thread is one week old.

Yes?

of course you don't understand a 6 hour grueling race would require a nap. for people like me who are ancient and have my "fitness level" we need naps and shouldn't try to maintain a desired level of fitness.

Total for the thread. By the time it's over. Mr. RJones will be pulling away. Unless VV comes back; then it will be neck and neck. Though Shovel Doug has been making waves of late.

I'm sorry. I didn't get the impression of such thin skin emanating from our NW Georgia poster.

I've been told I can hold my own with the best in the sarcasm department.

And today is day 6 of being laid up. One would imagine that as my general well-being improves, my amiability will follow.
In other words, once my mind is free, my ass will follow.
I have to take the car in for its 15,000 km check-up tomorrow, and I hope to be back on the bike on Tuesday.
Amiability will surely follow.

Poor ol' @Velo Vol is really missing out...

You know what a huge P!nk fan he is!
