Just Bought a Lemond!
Greetings,
I'm so happy I could just about bust. I've been watching this Lemond on Ebay all week and today I took a chance and emailed the guy asking him if he would end the auction early or add a buy it now price for the bike. We exchanged several emails, photos, haggled over price and finally sealed the deal.
I'm the proud owner of a 99 model Nevada City. The bike frame is 55cm, triple crankset and a mixture of Shimano components. Below is a picture that I snagged from Ebay.
I hope none of my fellow BF members were interested in this particular bike.
Zack

I also have a Nevada City Lemond. I have short legs & a long trunk. I like the stretched out geometry. Congrats on the purchase. Enjoy!

No, it's some kind of Schwinn...
Just put a rack today, rebuilt brakes... all axles are also rebuilt...
Waiting to paint it, the color will be deep green.

Very cool. I know you've mentioned wanting a LeMond several (hundred?) times, so I'm glad you finally got what you wanted. As a fellow LeMond rider, I welcome you to the club.

Inoplanetyanin: Looks like your bike is coming along nicely!
ChezJfrey: This is a tempory fix for my Lemond habit. I'm saving $$$ for a Zurich. That's what I really want.
Chi: I got it for $275 delivered.
Everyone else: Thanks for the replies.

There's something about that Lemond logo (though in French, Le Monde is the world, with an e) wrapped around the frame that I just love. It looks classic and as though it has stood the test of time, which it has. However, it isn't just looks, they are superb bikes, I love it!

Nice looking ride, you will really like it.I have enjoyed my lemond for 6 years now & they are great bikes. I just purchased a bridgestone off of e-bay for those not so nice days to ride! I would never ride my lemond in the rain so I had to get a rain bike.

Just a quick update. I got the Lemond yesterday. It's in pretty rough shape I'm going to strip it down to the frame give it a thorough cleaning, get the headset and bottom bracket serviced at the LBS and then build it back up. It'll server its intended purpose as a commuter bike quite well though.

Zack - I have a 2001 Nevada City, which I purchased new last March. Since then, I have ridden it about 1000 miles and just did a century last Sunday through heavy rains. It hasn't let me down yet. You will not be disappointed once you get it setup and on the road.

Revenig: Congrats on completing your century ride. I've stripped the Lemond down to the frame and have given it a good wash and wax job. I'm taking the 8-speed Sora components off of it and using them to build up a bike for my daughter to ride. I'll be putting a full tiagra group on the Lemond when I rebuild it.
