I made it out of a corn maze today. That had to be at least as hard at the marathon.
Way to go, aham! Anyone running in the heat today deserves a tip of the cap.

Congrats, he must have made it past the halfway before the cut it off. I will look for Ahams post on the Did you ride thread tomorrow. Now that the marathon is over he can get back on the bike!

i finished. it was crazy. i was in front of the cut off and most of the poeple that apparently fell victim to the heat. 35000 started, but only 25000 finished. 312 people were hospitalized and one passed away. crazy. just crazy.........

I did this race also today. I finished just shy of 6 hours. I am so glad I am done with it. Now it is time to get back on the bike.

Your time was very respectable for the heat. I think on a good weather day you would have blown away your goal times. Finishing on a day like today is quite an accomplishment. Congrats. Crystal

I have bad mojo with the Chicago Marathon. I've qualified for Boston 3 times but never at Chicago. It's just too flat and too many people for me. That said, I do think it's a perfect 'thon for a first timer.
I have had weird experiences...with the Indy Mini...black flagged there once for lightning. They were out picking us up in vehicles and just shut the whole course down about :30 into the race.
Oh, and then the trail 50k that it rained so hard that they decided to rig up a rope to get us up one challenging hill. Mud everywhere...I attempted to go up the hill with the rope between my legs! I recommend that about as much as duct tape for the nipples!
Aham totally rocked. His time was great on such a horrible day. Psimet and I were thinking of him as we laboured along the Pumpkin Pedal.

Congrats on your finish. I can't imagine running in that heat especially with the full sun for most all of the second half.
The elite runners made for exciting finishes.
Good idea to get back on the bike. Will be great recovery and you've got some awesome fitness from all that 'thon training.

I was on schedule to finish somewhere around 4:45-5:00 hours myself but I did what I was told and I walked. It hurt like hell to walk those last eight miles but I did it.

it was crazy man. did anyone catch the news last night on the race. they had people dropping like flies, the race director claiming there was water and runners stating the opposite. i must have been in front of most of this maddness. there was water and gatorade and tons of awesome volunteers. i spotted a few people needing medical attention, but there werent dropping left and right.
near the end i did hear Chicago's finest proclaim the race was over and we should walk. i didnt get it. i mean i only had 2 miles to go and people were still running, volunteers still working, and fans still cheering. it was confusing as hell.
what an experience to say the least. once again thanks to my BFNIC gang for the good wishes and thoughts. now, where is that bike of mine??
later.

....that and how bad the Cubs suck.
At least the Bears won last night. Yay. That means we won 6 more months of cheese products and beer.

Chicago doesn't need the hassle of the Olympics. I mean, it's not we're Atlanta.
Let Rio get the games. Traffic jams and kidnapped athletes will make for good drama.

^^^^ run this weekend..............all i can think is OUCH
recovery wise it is going well. lots of rest. three days so far and maybe another one today. i really want to get back on the bike, but with the colder weather finally rolling in and shorter days, who knows. i will run two or three yet this week, maybe a short ride, and then ramp it up from there. i plan to run the Gobbler Hobbler 10k on 11/10 in Oswego, a 5k here or there, and riding when ever the weather and time permits.
as for the bike i-355 it doesnt really appeal to me, but who knows. later.
