Don't you just hate it when you get all kitted up for a long ride and then realize you forgot your cycling shoes?

There was a trumpet player who showed up to a studio recording and had forgotten to put his horns in his trunk. After that, he went out and bought a second set of all of his horns and left them in his trunk.

I'm pretty sure this guy's arsenal included like 4 or 5 horns, too (Bb, C, flugel, piccolo, maybe an Eb/D)
I just wish I could afford two bikes total! Still tempting to sell one of my horns to do that.

back in the toe clip days I left my shoes at home and drove to a 2-up TT. but thanks to toe clips I rode it in sneakers, and my partner said he couldn't tell any difference.
these days I do a mental check as I'm walking toward the car - start at the toes and work up to the helmet, then visually confirm the bike is in or on the car.

A team mate showed up at a race with one shoe...we all mocked him. He was not allowed to race as he had clipless pedals but only one shoe...We mocked him all the more.

Back when I was a junior racer, I rode 6 miles to a teammate's apartment in order to get a ride to the race. We loaded my bike in the back of the truck, and then headed out. It wasn't until we got to the race that I remembered that I left my cycling shoes on the sidewalk when I had gone up the stairs to his apartment. At the race, I borrowed a pair of LOOK-compatible shoes from a kind stranger, and wore an extra pair of socks to make them fit. This was when clipless pedals were just becoming common, so I was really lucky to find someone with a similar size, who was willing to loan them to a complete stranger. It ended up being the first time I finished a criterium in the field.
