Anyone know how to score a free trial for TrainerRoad?

Some Strava friends have been going TrainerRoad recently, but I haven't had any success in finding out how to obtain a free trial for it; it seems a little pricey at $19.95/month, and I'm looking for a way to avoid having to pay for a month then cancel if it doesn't work for me...

Join the forum and search for the thread specifically for asking for trial access. Just ask and you will certainly get one. I was able to get one in less than a day. Trainerroad is awesome by the way.

According to the main website page there is a 30 day money back guarantee https://www.trainerroad.com/

That is like a free trial.

I felt the same myself that it was slightly pricey but I actually used it for close to 30 days to trial it out and then requested my money back.

It is a fantastic app by the way - I just wanted to test it out firstly!

After not being happy with Zwift I opted to give Trainer Road's 30 day trial a go and I REALLY like it. To the tune of I think I'm going to pay for the year, like it. Even if I only use it once a week for structured training, the fact that it is very firmly in the "we use data to help you get faster/more powerful/fitter" appeals to me. Zwift just never really clicked for me where as TR is serious no BS, "Okay we're training for real now."

I gave TR a shot, and didn't care for it. I found following a graph and reading the messages that attempt to keep you engaged tedious and uninteresting. While Zwift is less structured and goal-oriented, it is at least more interesting and visually engaging. Competing with live riders, and using climbs and sprints for interval and power level training is more "fun" than just looking at a graph.
I still mostly hate training indoors, but when there is true winter weather like we are having in the midwest, there is no other viable option for keeping the legs going during these lousy weather months.

100% agree. I grew up in Minnesota, and indoor would be the last choice for me if I were still there. At least there are things like Zwift, Sufferfest, TR, etc. which makes indoor a tiny bit less horrible vs. the old days of setting the fluid trainer and watching a movie/listening to podcasts, etc.

Hi James,

I've tried to PM you but seem to be restricted. Any chance you could PM me one of your referral links for TrainerRoad?

Cheers,

Dave.

This is my first post, therefore I`d like to say: Hallo

I won`t be too creative a will say that also in Mid Europe the day is getting shorter & shorter and the weather forces to switch from outdoor cycling to indoor trainer.
Last winter I was using Zwift, but read a bit about TR and decided to check it during this autumn/winter. Before I`ll spend the money it would be great to test it for 30 days.
Could you please support me, sharing the 30 days free code ?
Many thanks in advance,

Regards,
Michal
