Rugged Cell Phone
Does anyone have a Sonim or Cat phone? Do they live up to their billing? I want my phone for voice, text and the occasional photograph. I don't need it to surf the web, watch videos, play games etc.
Thanks

Smart watch alternative
There are rugged phones out there that weigh 160 grms which is half of what the fancy new phones weigh, but you have to put them in a plan and pay monthly fees, so I'm thinking of getting an apple watch which you don't have to pair with a cell phone, it is even lighter than a rugged phone and you can make and receive calls and texts. Pretty expensive though. THE POSITIVE SIDE IS THAT YOU CAN PUT IT IN YOUR PLAN and pay $15 dollars a month or less and they are able to read your pulse and many more things. Most other watches say they can do this but you have to pair them with a cell phone you don't want to carry and shortly after you hit the road you are out of range. They use bluetooth. So remember bluetooth connection is not good if you are leaving your cell phone in the car. People's experience in this area is welcome as to what watch is better and why.

My iPhone SE (or 5) in a Lifeproof case has been going for 3-4 years now and aside from the battery wearing down a tad with certain apps and in the cold, If I pulled it out of the case it would look nearly brand new (maybe aside from the screen. The case however is beaten down but it has been through a lot including a lot of tossing the phone intentionally at the ground (I do it less these days if at all because the case is starting to fall apart and I am not able to find the Nuud cases anymore.
However that Sonim XP8 does look promising though I am partial to apple products I could be convinced to switch if I could get a great deal from my carrier however it would be a pain since I use Apple everywhere else and would hate not to have my music or have to use another program to get it on the dang phone. Though it looks to be USB-c which is fine for charging.
