Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Correct. Wife was not well placed nor was the picture taker very observant...I'll rectify this year as we do this ride every 7/4. I'll try not to look like such a goof, though it will be tough since that's what I am.

i always think that pic looks dumb cuz i had my sandles in the car so as soon as my wife got to the summit in the car i took off my bike shoes and put those on so we could hike the last hundred feet to the actual off road summit, but then i forgot to take a pic at the road summit before that so all i got that year was me in sandles. whichs looks sorta weird.

I noticed the sandals. It's usually pretty chilly up top. My toes would be purple. Good to know you didn't ride up in those!

Sadly, I would be unable to swear on a stack of bibles to confirm this, because I have never personally witnessed it. And b is on my racing team. If he ever shows up we'll snap a pic of the two of us on upper slopes of the Col du Harlem.

Well, you do travel with your bicycle, don't you?

There weren't any mountains in Manitoba where I lived for 13 years either.

Here's a shot from U.S. 71 south of Fayetteville, AR looking down on the upper end of Lake Fort Smith. Our mountains aren't nearly as tall as most of the ones in this thread, but they're scenic and the ride is enjoyable. This range is known as the Boston Mountains. The road goes up and over Mt. Gaylor is this area.

Thank you to all that have replied. This is has turned out be an inspiring thread. I just talked to Brandy about..."Let's climb Mt Evans!"

EDIT: Brandy and I went to Onyx Summit yesterday. I was on my Fixed Gear. I'll post a report in a couple of days but here are few pics.

Yes michelito! You get the point of this thread-- show off your bike, show off beautiful mountain scenery, inspire us to go to another state or another country and to show off where YOU'VE been on YOUR bike.

Thank you again to all that have replied, posted or viewed.
