Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I just downloaded 'Top 100 trance and techno party songs of all time' has a lot of this sort of stuff. Tons of this stuff on the internet, sounds like what you want is trance music.

...nice roads...

Scandinavian trance. It's the best. Dubstep if you're touring.

Chemical Brothers perhaps. If you want something a little more laid back, Boards of Canada.

Yep. Repetitive patterns in very fast tempos with obviously digital sounds. That's Trance. Also look up "house".

Slower tempo, and it actually has defined phrases (in other words, you can actually listen to it).

I don't listen to music when I ride, but if I did this would be my playlist:

To get the legs going:

When the tempo needs to get lively:

When it's time to drope the hamer:

Cool down:

There's a mp3 of Eric Prydz live at Sensation White in St. Petersburg from last summer floating around. That has been my soundtrack to the rides in summer 2010.

I'm a little older and I don't mind some "motivational" lyrics

Ehh. Not in my wheelhouse. I started to think maybe Argyle Park or Pendulum, and while certainly entertaining, not quite right (industrial and drum&bass, respectively)

What about something like George Acosta? Maybe not melodic enough.

If you don't mind lyrics, Bronleewe & Bose has been doing some popular DJ style mixing of various stuff in the Nashville area.

Some good trance music for cruising, hard dub step for the hills and some skrillex at stop lights so you can jam. Velobeats is awesome

-Tiesto
-Skream
-Benga
-Ruckspin
-Rusko
-Bassnectar
-PANtyRAid

I love crystal Castle but only because alice glass is so badass, hot and a metal head
