I'm going with the tires, allen wrench and rest facility! Great ideas.

I'm a huge technology gear-head anyway, welcome to the club. Glad to know I'm not the only one. I can get about a 5 mile warm-up at good speed before really leaving the neighborhood, so I use those distances in reverse as well. Ugh!

I was so fried at then end of my ride this past weekend (50+ miles on 2 water bottles in 90° heat that felt like 103°) that I stopped at 54.2 miles and omitted the lap around the block (.85 miles) that would have gotten me there. Oh well.

Yes I was dumb also. I did a ride and was at 59 miles so I rode a little more to get 60. Guess what came to me about four hours later. Yep 62, dummy.

I set out to do a solo century a few weeks ago. Pulled into my driveway and my Garmin read 100.0 miles so I hit the stop button. When I uploaded the data, the actual distance came out to be 99.996 miles, so I was 20 feet short.

You did ride a "Metric" and you aren't an idiot for stopping at 60 miles. It's an arbitrary number with little or no difference in the achievement, and you're experienced enough to not be bothered if anyone demeans it as "2 miles short".

I did a fifty mile ride with my daughter and on the home stretch I realized we still needed to do the little side trip in Red Hook, Brooklyn to make a full 50. She didn't seem to care I was adding some distance and we came in at 51.2 miles at the end. We'd have been a hair short without the little detour.
