Facing a BB without threads?

I've been researching a bit but haven't found an answer yet. If you have a BB without threads or with non-standard threads, how would you go about facing it? All the tools I've seen use _threaded_ inserts and a spring to provide the tension needed to shave off the metal. Am I missing something here?

Cheers,
Phillip

I don't really know, but, perhaps pressed fit bb does not need the shell faced. Have you checked youtube for video? Or maybe www.parktools.com for info. Ask an LBS.

A centering cone is used on the opposite side and a pilot bushing is used on the side being faced. As seen in the picture on this Park tools page. https://www.parktool.com/product/40-98mm-pilot-764

If the bottom bracket requires reaming also, the reamer takes the place of the bushing, as is done with reaming and facing a head tube.

You face a threaded bottom bracket to assure the thread in cups have flat and parallel surfaces to tighten against. Most non-threaded bottom brackets use pressed-in bearings and the outside faces of the bb shell don't locate them so facing isn't needed.
