suggestions for good brake pads?
I've been using Shimano M70T4 brake pads on my hybrid bikes. (See https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/gp/product/B001NMTIEI). On the other hand, I use Shimano R55C3 pads for my road bikes. (See https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/gp/product/B00523Z83E). Although the two types of pads are similarly priced, the M70T4 have really crap performance compared with the R55C3. They have weak stopping power and squeal a lot, even after I give them a rub with sandpaper. I want to upgrade to some better brake pads for my hybrid bikes, but R55C3 doesn't seem to be available for V-brakes. Any suggestions for good V-brake pads?

This. You want to get those with pad holders the first time around. After that, you can get just the inserts. Black for dry, red for wet, black/wet for indecisive buyers.

Thanks! Anything of similar quality made by other brands you know of? (Looks like I'll have to order from abroad to get a decent price on the Kool Stop pads, as they're expensive in Japan).

I decided to go with Shimano pad holders I can buy here in Japan (https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/gp/product/B00GEDAPQ6) and compatible Kool Stop replacement pads I can order affordably from abroad (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0081TWBCC).
Thanks, all, for the help!

Just a thought...Poor performance and squealing could be because the pads are not toed in properly.
