Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So maybe I should be concerned that my localized reaction is becoming less localized?

I own several 24 hour dial watches. They SERIOUSLY mess with your ability to glance at your watch to see the time.

The sting was just above the Adam's apple, and now the itchy, inflamed area extends to the upper sternum.

Unlike my hip, it's a really awkward place to ice, and it hasn't been terribly effective. In the shower last night, though, I found that heat made the itch subside, so I've been hitting it with a hot compress when it gets to be too much; I was pleasantly surprised to find that a couple rounds of heat made me comfortable enough to get to sleep without trouble.
A hot shower has been my treatment for poison ivy and the like for 40 years. Also, if it's a small area of itch, as in a mosquito bite, nail polish provides instant relief. I always have a stash of clear for that purpose; you might want to experiment with colors.
In the hot shower department, keep cranking up the heat as your itch gets used to it. You can get four hours of relief this way.

For mosquito bites, I have a small desktop lamp with a 5 or 10w bulb. It throws off enough heat at 1/2" or so to heat up the site but not much else; that's usually good for a day or so of relief.
