Dura Ace pedal removal

Just picked up a bike that has dura ace ax7300 pedals. It looks like it takes a special wrench for removal. Does park tools sell this? Couldn't find it on their website.

don't know about the tool but those pedals and cranks are a non standard one off that had very limited production time as the design was not accepted at all the pedal threading is not standard, much larger than normal, so to use non AX pedals you will need to find an adapter..

cant tell. but is there a hex hole on the end?

VeloBase.com - Component: Shimano PD-7300, Dura-Ace AX

Only Dyna Drive pedals were odd, those have a huge crankarm end hole

otherwise 9/16"x20tpi R&L thread.... hex socket in the inside end of the pedal axle perhaps?

I'm wondering do you service the bearings without removing the pedals?

Saw the many flats around it ts outside edge? that is wher you unscrew it , big open end wrench 1/8" thick*

if you're lucky they used something like threaded *headset wrenches which are 32 or 36 mm..
inside hex is a bearing ball race adjustment.. I note its steel by the rust..

If I were you & wanting to ride the bike ,not just display it ,
I'd take the whole crankset out , auction it, and put something else on the bike frame..

looks like you can just squirt grease in the gap.. ( I don't own one, just using old mechanic's grey cells)

I had some of those- don't recall needing anything more than a wrench to remove them,

but as fietsbob recommends above, I swapped them out for similar vintage cranks that take more useful pedals.

You need the correct Shimano DD (Dyna Drive) wrench to not mess up the flats on these pedals. There is an eBay seller in Poland that makes a copy of this wrench.

So those cranks won't take just any pedal?

There are some hard-to-find and expensive adapters. Cheaper and easier to get cranks on ebay.

Ok I think I could service these pedals except for the fact that 1 dust cover is broken and the other is missing completely
and I really doubt that I can find replacements

In my toolbox. I also have NIB pedals and a used pair, and some cranks.

Maybe on the old pedals. I'll look. Would not want to K-ball (cannibalize, old military term) the new ones.

Old DuraAce DD pedal shows good seal.

And old Deore DD pedal shows good seal.

Don't know if they're interchangeable and I'd have to find the mate for each of them, if you're interested in either pair.

A few bucks plus shipping. Let me find the mate for each and I'll let you know. I assume you want just the DuraAce (racing pedals like the ones you have) and not the Deore (touring pedals).
