3 Day Ride to the Coast Done!!

Day 3 Ride to the Coast in the books!

Another 96 miles today from Washington to Beaufort. Great weather the first 50 miles but lots of rain for the rest of the ride. But the wind was kind to us so we were able to enjoy some tailwinds for most of the day.

We crossed back over the bridge in Washington with the steel grates and we took to the sidewalks!

We enjoyed a ferry ride across the Neuse River on the Minnesott Ferry. We all got sandwiches at a local store and I enjoyed a really good eastern style bbq sandwich at the ferry.

At ride’s end we enjoyed a cool one at the Fishtown Brewery. It was well earned!

A really good 3 days of riding with 6 great guys for 312 miles. It’s always a treat to do rides with the High Point folks.

At the ferry

Waiting on the ferry

Lunch stop

Great eastern style bbq sandwich from a small local joint.

On the ferry

Post ride celebratory drink....a stout....really good.

No Bust!!!

Bikes: Most have two wheels, some have one, some have a very large front wheel and tiny rear wheel.

Looks like a great ride, good friends, and tasty frosty adult beverages!

My dream is to do the Oregon Coast in much the same way. A small group of people with the right gear and bikes. North to South , of course! Good job guys thanks for the photos.

That's a phenomenal idea. Is the road along the coast safe enough to ride on? I might have to plant that seed with my wife sagging for me.......

I haven’t done any research on it. I met a couple on one of my bike rides that had done it and just raved about the scenery and ride. It sounded great to me. One thing about the Oregon coast highway is the cars typically don’t drive that fast like PCH down here. Rain is a consideration as is wind but that is why I would do North to South. They did hotels not camping so their bikes weren’t loaded down. Lots of really cool places to see. My brother lives inland and spends a lot of time camping along the coast and have sent great photos.

Nice! I've been over that bridge- rather unsettling.

Also been up the coast a couple of times- it's great.

Those riding buddies plus several more just completed their annual one day 200 mile Ride to the coast. I’m doing another ride so I wasn’t able to join them......my wife’s decision on ride options!!!

They were riding in memory of one of their 45 year old really strong riders whom died unexpectedly a couple months ago from heart issues.

Early start.

At the finish.
