Crank removal
I picked-up a bike which I'm planning to use the parts as modern build on a vintage bike. I've only ridden and maintained vintage bike where the crank fixing bolt was removed by loosening a 14 or 15mm bolt and then a crank puller tool that threads into the crank. Is this taken off the same way by just loosening the allen head bolt or is it done differently. I've heard some have a self removing capability that if not done right might mess things up. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

Looks like a standard Campag crank bolt. All of my Campag cranks (8sp-10sp) were/are set up this way. Remove the bolt counterclockwise with a 8 or 10mm (can't remember) Allen wrench, make sure to recover any washer that might be in there, then use a standard crank puller to remove the crank. Don't forget to grease the puller threads and screw it in all the way before you start leaning on it.

Thanks, this gave me confidence as I was pulling the crank and bottom bracket.

Man, pretty frame. I love a lugged frame.
