Sex or Cycling?

A survey was made a few years ago among male 50+ year old golfers. They were asked, if you were to give up one permanently, sex or golf, which one will it be? Sadly, a good majority were willing to give up sex.

If you were asked to give up cycling or sex, which way would you go?

In my fifty plus years, answer would be easy, cycling. In my sixty plus years, sex seems to be going away of its own accord!

You folks have too much time on your hands.

Either go for a roll or go bicycling. Time for action , forget the talk

I have to read this stuff because I am at work. Seriously

64 the Hormones are in remission by now.. 20 years between X GF's .
the endings of those relationships ,enough of a wound,
to be real reluctant to start another.

Funeral for another Viet Nam Vet, (3"tours"), here,.. 1st wife died,
needy of another companion, got married within a year
the new wife liked spending the money, 100% service connected pension,
and what he had saved, Fishing off Alaska , .. built new house , etc,
and , 2 years into it he put a gun to his head.

Never mind. Count me as 1 for giving up cycling. There's always hiking, backpacking, spelunking, swimming, canoeing, softball, basketball, remodeling, racquetball, tennis, fishing. And there's "well honey, I did give up cycling."

What he said. Sex wins - and I'd find an alternative sport.

Guess I better tell my new bride we have 4 good years left.

Seriously... if I had to choose one over the other all I can say is that I would really miss my bikes.

Not really an issue here as radiation treatments made the choice for me.

Medication reactions did the choice for me. I tried Cialis and it was a bust. We still have a healthy relationship in other ways and we are happy. Cycling gets the nod here. No regrets as long as my wife is happy.

Some people are funny, some people just try to be....

For me, it's not a question of what WOULD I give up; I already gave up the sex. It's gotten so stupid after the 2nd divorce (I'm talking about other potential SO's) that it's just not worth it. I decided that the sex isn't worth the drama, or as I told my sister, the 'punani' isn't worth putting up with the rest of the woman.

Besides, even in my 20's I couldn't ride my wife for 5 hours, then get up the next day and do it again!

As if by example:

Why Bicycles are Better than Women
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bicycles don't get pregnant.

You can ride your Bicycle any time of the month.

Bicycles don't have parents.

Bicycles don't whine unless something is really wrong.

You can share your Bicycle with your friends.

Bicycles don't care how many other Bicycles you've ridden.

When riding, you and your Bicycle can arrive at the same time.

Bicycles don't care how many other Bicycles you have.

Bicycles don't care if you look at other Bicycles.

Bicycles don't care if you buy Bicycle magazines.

You'll never hear, "Surprise, you are going to own a new Bicycle" unless you go out to buy one yourself.

If your Bicycle goes flat you can fix it.

If your Bicycle is too loose you can tighten it.

If your Bicycle is misaligned, you don't have to discuss politics with it.

You don't have to be jealous of the guy who works on your Bicycle.

If you say bad things to your Bicycle, you don't have to apologize before you ride it again.

You can ride your Bicycle as long as you want and it won't get sore.

You can stop riding your Bicycle as soon as you want and it won't get frustrated.

Your parents won't remain in touch with your old bicycle after you dump it.

Bicycles don't get headaches.

Bicycles don't insult you if you're a bad rider.

Your Bicycle never wants a night out with the other Bicycles.

Bicycles don't care if you're late.

You don't have to take a shower before you ride your bicycle.

If your Bicycle doesn't look good you can paint it or get better parts.

You can ride your Bicycle the first time you meet it, without having to take it to dinner, see a movie, or meet its mother.

The only protection you have to wear when riding your Bicycle is a decent helmet.

When in mixed company, you can talk about what a great ride you had the last time you were on your Bicycle.

I would go in the opposite direction of the person asking the question, as quickly as I could. I would not "give up" either; you'd have to take one away from me. I assure you I would put up a fight.

It's akin to "Would you give up cycling to keep your marriage." If you have to answer the question, you are truly in a lose-lose situation.

That said, Cycling has a much greater positive influence on my life than sex, and I spend a lot more time cycling (10-12 hours/week). In my case, giving up sex would mean giving up my marriage, which would have so many ill-affects, I would probably have to go with giving up cycling. Lose-lose indeed.

Sex: As Lord Chesterfield said to his son: "The position is ridiculous, the pleasure is momentary, and the expense is damnable!"
Cycling: The position can sometimes be uncomfortable but not with the right bike, the pleasure is endless, and the expense is usually only as damnable as you want it to be.
