When the survey was released about more golfers ready to give up sex rather than golf, I was still a golfer. I realistically analyzed the same question and if asked, I may have been ready to give up sex. Thru an extremely limited sampling, the bikers in this forum are saying that they would give up biking. The explanations I can think of are:

1. Serious golfers are much more passionate about their sport than bikers. As much as I like biking, I don't like it as much as I liked golf. There is no way I would give up sex for biking.

2. Bikers have a better cardiovascular system and have better circulation to their wives' former favorite parts, hence having better potential in bed.

3. Bikers are liars who are not willing to accept their preference for riding an inanimate object.

Of course, number 3 can't be right. We all know that nobody ever lies in polls.

My biggest problem with sex is in my case it requires a woman. We just don't get along. There is a reason prostitution is referred to as the world's oldest profession.

Not an issue. Lost my bride of 32 years 18 months ago. Being a deacon I took the vow of celibacy if she went before me. I give up all my bikes to have her here now regardless.

Let’s go ride beer and pizza awaiting.

I am sorry for your loss. I can't imagine losing my soul mate. I have been married to the same woman that I lost my virginity to for 45+ years and the older I get , the more I have come to depend on her. We are now ready for me to spend less hours working and more hours with her and , of course , cycling. The choice between the two is easy I will choose not just sex but companionship any day. I can't even think about being without her. Luckily she sees the value of my cycling obsession so I don't have to choose. Joe

For myself at middle age, cycling makes sex better. I don't need sex to cycle, but I do think I need cycling for sex.

Three guys either golfed or cycled on Sat morning. Two of the were grumbling what they had to do for their wives to make up for it. The third one said no problems at my house, I just slap my wife on the rump and say sex or cycling. She always says dont forget you helmet!!!!!

bad hypothetical

it's like asking do you want to keep breathing OR do you want your blood to keep flowing

and for the people that say both or neither, it's a hypothetical!! it doesn't mean you have to choose and live with your decision

"a good majority were willing to give up sex."

I would say it might strongly depend on their perception how successful they are in both areas.

Can you imagine putting as many hours per week into sex as you currently put into cycling? I think that would hurt more.

well I don't ride my wife as often as my bike but I am 57 so thats a given. Now when I was =young 3 to 6 rides a day no problem. Now cycling is 4 to 6 a day. even if able I don't think my wife would approve of that.

Also, you can go ride at your choice of time, place and frequency. The other not so much

You have that backwards. It should read, "Well, I'm not married, so I don't have much a choice.

I read somewhere (not on the internet) that bull fighters have sex the night before, because it sharpens their reflexes. Any bull fighters out there who can verify or dispute this?

As for the sex v. cycling question...I'm a 70 yo. widower taking a bunch of medicines for diabetes...What is sex??? I do know what cycling is...almost every day.
If asked 20 years ago I'd have said neither...but never at the same time!

both are dependent on the course ahead...lots of curves and potential crashes? long straightaways? easily navigable or fistfulls of brakes involved...?

If it truly was a matter of one or the other than I would choose cycling. Reason being, I can have cycling every day, morning, afternoon or night as long or as short as I want. The other requires waiting to be in the mood, dinners, etc...

Easier to just go for a bike ride.

They kind of go together in my mind. Your bike has a head tube. You move your butt from time to time to vary things up. Sometimes you have to drop down. Other times you have to shift a little. Once in a while you have to push harder. Some people like chains and cages. The experience can be sweaty. Every once in a while you get to experience an exotic Italian.
