Today at the LBS (1950's French Rando content)

I stopped by my LBS today and saw that Mark had a very appealing bike sitting in among the rows. Not only did he give me permission to take a picture, he dragged out the stand and blocked the path between the cafe and the restroom so that I could take some shots.

My first question was, "is it in for repairs?", because if it wasn't, I was going to try to acquire it. One of his customers brought it in to him for a re-furb. The apparent difficulties are the Mafac half-hoods, a missing, suitably French bottle generator (I sent my last one off in a Box-o-crap about 2 years back), and hopefully rescuing the saddle (an Ideale that a bit crusty and separated from the frame). I did put a word in for rhm, but he's going to try his skills first.

Not something you often see, so hopefully worth your time to check the pictures out.

Yes, I will definitely hit him up for "after" photos.

and a question... what's the function of the hinged feature that's above the tubing sticker.

That must be where you put the helium.

Doh!

So cool, I'm really going to be in trouble when one of these turns up in my size which, luckily for me isn't likely.

I'm sure he's aware that Rustines makes a replacement half-hood for Mafac levers, available through Velo Orange. They look good if you don't care about having everything be the real deal NOS.

They look and feel exactly the same. I suspect Rustines made the original version for MAFAC.

I'd like to get my hands on a double water bottle cage like the one on this bike.

I told him I thought Velo Orange sold replacements. Thanks for the confirmation.
