1993 Specialized Allez
So I am thinking about buying this bike from my parents neighbor who hasn't ridden it in 15 years. It is in good shape, just a little dusty. I was going to clean it up, but I want to wait until I buy it so He won't see how nice it is. It is in good shape with only a few minors scratches in the paint and a small tear in the seat. I just want to flip it but I want to know how much all of you think I could get for it before I decide how much to offer. It has all RX100 Shimano. Thanks!

That looks like a 25" frame. That will limit the buyer pool. All cleaned up in warmer months where I live, probably sell it for $250-$275 and it might take some time to find a buyer.

I know I know. I do like the bike. It rides great, shifts beautifully, and is lighter than expected. I just have too many bikes right now. I wanted to take it on a long ride to test it out, but I knew if I did i would keep it. My dad is thinking about getting it and riding it, and if he decides to, I'll forgo my plans. But otherwise I need to make some money. I'm about to buy a house.

I think it is a 58-60cm. I haven't measured it, but it is real close to my 60cm Paramount, maybe a tad smaller.

I hope it is a 60. That's my size!!! Head tubes can be deceiving sometimes. I have a 60cm Schwinn Circuit and the headtube is 7 1/4". I have a 59cm Ironman and the headtube is 6 1/2". Just built different.

No real dent but small amounts add up for a down payment. If I can make $100 off of it that's $100 less coming out of my check.

I bought this 1993 Allez locally, with all attached, for $75 from the original owner. Second photo is how I now have it (but still needing handlebar tape).

As nice as the Allez was (and some of them were very nice), the bicycle world has moved on in interest, and the market for older steel road bikes (no matter how good they were originally) has taken a dump over the past five years. Besides the size of the frame, which knocks out a certain number of potential customers, you have a large percentage of buyers now who are either uninterested or afraid of DT shifters. And any aficionados will be looking for a deal on something equipped with RX100 (which are perfectly functional components, but lack glamor.) Anyway, good luck with it, however you proceed. Owning your own house (along with the bank ) is a big part of the American Dream.

$200 as is. After new tires, handlebar tape, other items & polish, maybe $300.

I think dollar signs are obscuring your vision. Even if you get it for lowball price, selling it for a profit of $100 dollars is not likely, at least not any time soon.

+1 While great bikes to ride mid level production MTBs and Road bikes from the 80's are just not flip able . Search to find hassle of buying bike used 5 hr's labor.. Full service and take care of issues 4 hrs parts likely $50 min . Selling marketing the bike figure another 5hrs and a bunch of hassle. So you have 14hrs labor x minimum wage $12 for $168+ $50 parts for $220 minimum so if you get the bike free to get a reasonable profit flipping you need to sell the bike for $300 fairly fast. While really nice used mid levels are often selling for $200-250 or so and taking some time to sell in most markets.
