You need a sense of humor ... and you need to quit attributing statements to others that they did not make.

The latest episode of the "Nerd Alert" podcast has a lengthy interview with the head of the metallurgy company that produces the alloy and tubes ("super-magnesium") used in the Vaast. I found the interview interesting but ultimately I came away unconvinced that magnesium represents a differentiating improvement over standard aluminum, titanium or steel. The material is light and has a high modulus but the resulting frame doesn't seem particularly compelling when compared to far less expensive aluminum frames that have a similar weight, similar performance, and far more advanced forming. The company head did say that he expected future versions of the super-mag frames to have more advanced forming. The extensive anti-corrosion solutions applied to this frame are interesting, but why not just get a frame made out of a material that doesn't have such a huge susceptibility to corrosion? Also I'm concerned about impact resistance of this material, which was glossed over in the conversation.
I will say that the Vaast is nothing like the cast, heavy, brittle, easy to corrode, unsafe failure of the Kirk Precision. It's truly a viable product.
