Reproducing that would not be nearly so hard as reproducing a René Herse stem. All you need is a cheap DC tig welder, a drill press, a set of counterbores, some letter punches, and an angle grinder! Maybe some wire wheels and a couple of files to get the appropriate rough finish on those cast-looking pieces. The crazy thing is that all that tooling would cost less than the original!

Its easy to entertain the notion that someone is doing this deliberately. This is just another example of someone who is over-optimistic and sadly disillusioned about an item's true worth. There are many Leslie Knopes out there.
