Did my first decade ;)
I think if 100 miles is a century, 10 should be a decade - lol.
I did 10 miles this morning before breakfast. 10.1, to be exact. I know for many of you that's not a long ride, but it's a heck of an accomplishment for me . Just started riding again 22 days ago, and could barely do 2 miles the first day. I've ridden as an adult a few times in the past, most recently about 4-5 years ago, and never trained right to go over 3-4 miles.
I feel awesome.

Congratulations. I have said it before. The gains come quick at first. Keep at it and you will be regularly be doing 30 or 40 mile rides in a couple of months.

I remember feeling the jelly legs after my first 10 mile ride as a 40+ year old. Congrats!

Way to go! I started back riding at age 58, and the first time or two out, I only did 2 or 3 miles. Keep at it - without overdoing it - and the miles will come!

Congrats! I'm kinda like you, I've only been back to riding for about 3 weeks now. I'm 6'1" 280. I've done a decade twice so far, and man did I feel it. I tried to do 5 miles the next day after one of them, and that was a big mistake. Take a rest day tomorrow. Planning on getting 10 in this afternoon after work.

Just don't push it tomorrow, I made that mistake! The first time I did 9.5miles the next day I thought I could do 11, whoops! It was a nightmare, like a moron I added miles to the front of my ride and hit the wall, hard, 4 miles from my jeep and nothing to do but keep riding. I only started about 10 days or so before you I think. I have been doing a regular loop of 8.5 miles daily and sprinkling in longer rides when I feel good.

I did take it a bit easier today. I'd been pushing several days in a row, and definitely don't want to hurt myself. As of last Wednesday, my normal ride was 5.5 miles. I pushed to 6.5 on Thurs, 7.1 Fri, 8.1 Sat, 8.7 Sun, then 10.1 yesterday.
So this morning I did 8.4. I've got a good route now around the neighborhood that works well, and I think my normal rides for the next week will be right around this distance, though I may vary it a bit - I do have a strong tendency to compete with myself....

Congratulations! 25% more than what appears to be your go-to distance is no small thing.
Only compare yourself to yourself, especially less than a month in. Your butt isn't even broken in yet. Distance comes if that's what you want. I can't think of anyone who started as an adult who doesn't look back on the first year without a grin on their face - even the ones that were really fit to begin with.

Ha, and I was happy progressing from 3.0 to 4.1. Shooting for 5+ tomorrow if I can get out early. We have plenty of paved trails around here running through neighborhoods and parks, so think I'll try those out instead of the streets. One is probably 10-12 miles long, and the others are shorter loops.

Every milestone is a milestone worth celebrating.
Everyone who now does centuries in under 5 hours, started with shorter rides and probably struggled when they passed their first milestones.
So, congrats, and it's time to move the goal line out a bit farther.
