Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

How does plastidip work on the carbon frames? Any issues? I did a few things on my truck years ago and was quite pleased with how they turned out. Have thought about doing my bike, but it seems like a bit of a hassle to pull it all apart just to spray it and then not like the outcome.

Looks like you tired to make it look like that new allez sprint. Specialized Bicycle Components
I don't care for plastidip but a little color doesn't hurt, maybe do the seat tube as well. Look at the Venge cx1 bike.
Early feedback on Venge Lunch Race?

Or move the seat back and get a shorter stem?

No. as mentioned above, thats not how it works. You would be better off to simply get a zero offset seat post. You dont get a shorter/longer stem to accommodate saddle position.

Yeah you're right, now that I think about it. But, even with a zero setback, that thing looks like its going to buckle and fall forward ...

Seat Post and the red wheel decals does nothing for the Litespeed. Ridley is hot and the Merckx is insanely HOT!

I'm really liking how this bike feels/handles. I know I have a bunch of crap on the bike, so be gentle.

I think the all look good, but the Merckx is the best of the bunch for sure. I think the 303's look better than 404's would, perfect depth to suit the frame. Red decals could look good possibly, if they are the sam hue as the decals on the frame.

The post and saddle on the Litespeed are a recent addition. There's still something not quite right about it. I thought that the aero post might go with the aero downtube. It looks better than before though:

Before

After

The Ridley has too many graphics but that's the way it is these days I guess. I would prefer black sidewalls but gotta wait till the next tire change.

The Merckx seems just right with a lot of class. I'm happy with that. It's my first brand new bike I spec'd after landing a job out of college. Originally spec'd with DA 9 now with Record 10. It'll probably be the last to go if it ever comes to that.

Thanks for the comments!

Oh, here are the weights:
Litespeed= 18.27 lbs
Ridley= 16.87 lbs
Merckx=17.61 lbs

Not really my taste of what I would call hot, sorry. I dont care for that seatpost at all. Personally, I think the wheels would look better without the decals, but thats just my opinion. I'd also take off those white stickers on the wheels (I'm guessing that is to know where your valve stem is?)

As for the Ridley, I think it has some real potential here. IF it were my bike, I would:

-Take off the wheel decals
-strip the logo's and color of the seatpost (Either sand it down or acetone if the logo's are not under the clear coat)
-Strip the logo's off the stem. The Ritchey logo's are under a clear coat if it is a glossy, I believe acetone will take off the logo's on a matte finish stem though. If it doesn't work, plastidip is a good option. Leave everything else the same.

I suggest this because as you said, its already a busy frameset. All the logo's on the seatpost, stem and wheels just adds to it. Stripping the logo's will make it more subtle and sleek. Ive got some company over that I dont want to be a part of, so I'll see if I can photoshop it for you real quick which can give a better visual of how it would look.

Ridley Orion w/ 404 tubulars

maybe something like this
-took off logo's of your stem, seatpost, wheels and slammed the stem a little for ya

If it were my "stable," I'd keep the Merckx and dispose of the other two. Generally, they all seem too much alike, and kind of boring, but the Ridley is the most generic, and the Litespeed is the most frumpy - bowed seat stays have gotta go.

@VW611, I'll take the Litespeed when everyone convinces you that it's frumpy or ugly or that your life would be better if you scrap it.

I agree. I'm not a Litespeed fan but this one is pretty sweet.
