Kid's Venge weighs 13# and change. And pretty Aero, not as much as yours.
I expect the DA2 to be around 15#.
So for pros who have limits it makes little scene not to be aero. But juniors fav riding bike is the least aero.

one of the biggest surprises is how well the bike can climb. For short and punchy climbs i'd take it over the tarmac. For long 10 mile climbs I'd choose the tarmac but where i live it's basically 50ft per mile which is a good elevation for riding in the venge. That gets me into the 20mph average with not too much effort. Anything up to a mile and change the Venge can go at it hard.
I am also surprised at how comfy it is. It's no roubaix but my expectations were pretty low and just did a century on it Saturday and it was surprisingly fine.

Have you measured the difference?

The venge is good to climb when you power through it. 1-3 min at a good speed and high power. It's not necessarily great for sitting and spinning up a mountain.
That being said im sure it's still pretty good in the mountains.

The 3 pound difference is noticeable when momentum does is not present. At 7-9mph aero is no longer good and for prolonged time you can feel the weight. Also, aero handlebars are not quite as comfy as the round bar when on the tops. The tarmac also feels a bit better when off the saddle for a prolonged time.

It has added weight. We have the same older Venge. A teammate has the new one. It is debated which is the preferred.
As an all-around race bike the older Venge is pretty fast. The Masi climbs and sprints the best - but it is not an Aero bike.

I'd love to own some 975g lightweights but I don't think I should spend $8,300 on a wheelset.

Hello guys and gals,
I recently made the jump into an aero machine after many years of contemplating if it was worth it or not. I was a little skeptical about the hype yet always wanted an aero bike since I loved the aggressive look on these machines. Once I jumped into my current steed, the Venge ViAS, I turned into a believer that Aero trumps weight. My Venge ViAS is my favorite bike, the one I've liked the most from all the bikes I have ever owned.
I understand the geometry, ride quality and looks may not be something for everyone but for those looking to ride the fastest around, it is definitely an improvement over traditional bikes. My previous bikes include the following since 2012:
2012 Felt Z85 (sold)
2013 Specialized Roubaix Expert (still own)
2013 Giant TCR SL Rabobank Team Bike (Custom build: Dura Ace 9000, Enve 3.4SES) Own as frameset now.
2016 Giant TCR SL 2 (Custom Build: Shimano Dura Ace 9000, Enve 3.4SES) (sold)
2016 Specialized Tarmac (Campagnolo Super Record 11, Mavic Ksyrium Pro Carbon SL Tubulars) Still own.
The Venge has put me back on the road again and with a huge grin on my face. It's extremely fast, and the geometry fits me like a glove. Here is a pic that I've posted in other threads. Show me your AERO BIKE!
