Houston area Rides

Outstanding, rickyk76!
After the ride the Saint Arnold team had a little pool party with many grilled meats and many ice code Saint Arnold beverages. That was also a blast.
I went home and tried to watch the TdF but could not keep my eyes open. I ended up napping until 9:30pm or so.

Great to hear y'all had a good time! Sun was brutal yesterday too, so, glad no one was worse the wear.
Hopefully I'll be able to ride it again next year.

There really aren't many I'm aware of until most start up again after the first of the year before the MS. Aside from Bike Around the Bay, anyway.
Check out texbiker.net - he's got a pretty solid list of rides to scout - most stressful not in Houston right now though.

Cannot forget the Houston Cy-Fair Lions Biking for Sight Ride on Sunday, October 1st, 2017. I've done it several times. It is well run with great routes this year. Check out Biking for Sight Bike Ride

Some groups have training rides for Bike Around the Bay. Saint Arnold has them almost every Saturday and Sunday until the ride, but you have to sign up to participate.
There are a bunch of other group rides. Come Ride With Us holds a few. Various bike shops have them.

Ready 2 Roll is hosting Pedal Away Alzheimer's on Sept. 16. This group has an excellent training series for the MS150 every year.

to the Houston and South Texas riders. Our t-shirt rides stop after MS-150. But the DFW area goes many more weeks, mostly in preparation for the Hotter than Hell. I go to 2 or 5 of these rides every year, mostly to get hill training but otherwise for a good time. Save my info, if you want a road trip with a great ride (and yet another t-shirt) let me know.

Ya'll need to check out the Pineywoods Purgatory in October. My favorite ride. Near Lufkin. Routes up to a century. Lots and lots of hills, pretty quiet back roads, and a town that rolls out the red carpet for us.

Sci, I always imagine we're passing each other at THP on Saturdays or Sundays, as I think I see someone who looks kind of like the pictures you've posted in the past. How many are in your group and when are you riding? I'd like to get faster and know group rides would help (along with some HIIT which I never do).

We have a couple of MS150 team members riding in that one. It looks like fun, but the timing just doesn't work for me.

We normally don't ride through THP as it's a tight fit and has too many pedestrians for a group. We ride for longer distances through GBP then out to the roads in Cinco Ranch and points south and west.
My "group" has been rag-tag for the past while - one had heart surgery, one was bitten by a feral cat and had possible blood-borne illness and also a cast, now she's back in Australia for like a month, the other is a not-as-strong rider on an old bike that needs some TLC - so I'm always looking for more folks to do 30-50 miles at about a 17-18 avg.
I've thought about joining the ride from Bicycle World on Memorial but I don't care for the shop and I'm not a super fast rider and I'd rather ride with friends and people I know.
I do ride through THP to and from work thought on days i bike commute to work.

Bonus: I can show you how to get to Mason Creek greenway instead of stopping at Fry Rd.
I'd say we could go this weekend, but, uh, hurricanes and all....

Sure. If I remember to I'll post in here for next Saturday. Y'all don't mind riding roads, right? Because GBP is going to be underwater for a long time again after this weekend.
