White shoes make your legs look long and powerful.
Black shoes make your legs look short and dumpy.
Your choice.

White is pro.
I'm not pro, therefore, black.

Black shoes look like you're going to church. Not that I'm a pro, but check out a professional race. You won't see too many black shoes. You will see all kinds of colors, but not much black. So, my answer is any color but black.

still remember dabbing white polish on my confirmation shoes, or was it 1st communion? don't remember. also don't remember why I would care cuz those two things only occur once & surely my shoe size would have changed
anyway, can't imagine trying to keep while cycle shoes white

Yes, which is part of why I prefer white...because I'm such a poseur.
Also agree with silver - I have 2 pairs of silver shoes. They look sweet.
Oh, and as far as keeping white clean goes:
Yes, they do tend to get scuffed up...but just keep pedaling so that nobody notices.

I likie those Mavic shoes. Never tried them but they seem solid. OP Get whatever color floats your boat and can get a good deal on. A recent shoe that I miss are the Bont a-three. They were blue and white. But the best part was putting them in the toaster oven twice on low heat to take advantage of the foot moulding process.

Fantabulous! I think they are the top end of the Bont range, no? So might be a bit too pricey for me. I might have to break down and get another pair. Maybe one or two from the bottom. The old a-three I used to have weren't even carbon sole. But they definately got the job done.

White,
always white... shinny, highly polished white.
Unless there is the option for something really loud like Neon yellow, orange or purple.

I need more details, what color is the bike? Your helmet? The vast majority of your socks?
HOWEVER, with none of these details, I highly recommend white.
