Hi from New Jersey

I've been riding since I was a teenager, first a balloon tire 24" bike, then a three speed, then a ten speed. Finally in 1997 I bought a Trek 1220. That bike lasted me twenty six years which brings me to this year. At the age of 75 I bought myself a new bike, a Trek Domane AL 5. It didn't take me long to get used to the slightly wider tires and the new gearing. I find myself riding a bit faster and the ride is a bit softer. I just wish I did it years ago. I belonged to a club up to about ten years ago when I had an injury that kept me off the bike for a couple months and I let my membership lapse. My present average speed is just about thirteen mph. On the club rides I used to do close to fifteen so age has taken its toll on me. I did an eight hundred mile tour from Ottawa CA to Washington DC in '99 and a number of centuries over the years. I know I am rambling a bit so I'll end here.

I,m impressed, I thought 65 was tough. Thirteen mph sounds like you're in good shape. I hope to get there soon. Your winter season is right around the corner. Here in Snowflake AZ we get temperatures in the teens but rarely have snow or ice on the ground. We do however have heavy wind almost year round. I am new to the Forum and will look for your posts.
