Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Picture of the Day

So I was cleaning my bike up today and as I squatted down to finish the wipe down, I just paused for a moment to take in the beauty of this Bianchi Veloce I have. I have other bikes that might fit me better, but this bike always quickens my pulse a little more than the others when I ride it.

Looks very nice. Do you ever ride it? I don't see any sign of grease/grime. Looks like there isn't even lube on the chain.

Nice bike.

Is it me or does it look like the wheel is not sitting all the way into the dropout ?.

You are 100% correct! I had just taken the wheel off to do my shining and I didn't even notice. Corrected now.

Thank you!

Anyhow, here is my work in progress... I kind of put myself in a hole by putting the downtube decal in the wrong spot. The curve of the bottom of the "S" in De Rosa is in alignment with a bottle cage hole. Problem is, I lined up the bottom hole instead of the top one. There are now 50 new swear words out there. I had to peel it off and order another decal. Bummer.

No such thing as too much bling in Atlanta.

Love, love, love your clean Veloce. The fade fork and paired spokes are sublime and the OEM post and saddle are over the top. Did the bike come with those wheels?

Looks like a thumping system too.

Thanks, Tim. I recently picked this up from the original owner. He bought it for his wife at retail ($1650). She rode it around the block, parked it in the garage and it sat collecting dust for 11 years. The Campag G3 wheels are original to the bike. I'm not a real fan of the blue accent stripes, but for the money I paid, I'm not complaining.

Other topic: That's a Sony ES (Elevated Standard (fancy, fancy)) system. The turntable has the BioTracer arm. I think it was some of Sony's best stuff. Thanks for the comps!

BTW, your bike is absolutely stunning. My jaw dropped.
