Need child carrying recommendation for family cycling outings
Hi ya!
My wife and I going to ride together again once the winter is over. We have a 3.5yo and a 6mth old (come spring).
Currently I take my elder daughter on rides using the Co-Pilot child seat which I think will be out-growing that soon. We're mulling over what is the best combo now that we have a new kidlet that just joined our family.

Trailers and tag along bikes. Might be the safest way and most comfortable for the child. If you fall down the child doesn't have to fall down with you in a trailer. IMHO

The 6mo old infant needs better head, neck, support, still ?
a car seat made for that age can be mounted in a bike trailer to give that needed support .
A long wheel base front loading Bak Fiets [Dutch for Box Bike] is what they use for doing much Daily
travel there , with several children.

Ask in the Recreational & Family forum. Lots of discussion about child seats, chariots, trailers, combos, etc.

For the love of your child, wait until he/she is a year old.

The Drive Side is Within
1 year old is the right time. If the kid's a real bruiser, I'm sure you could jump the gun on the year mark. We did with our second, I think. We have been having a good time with our Madsen, which is the safest cost-effective way to take the kids out in traffic, IMO. I hesitate to bring the trailer out on well traveled roads.

My first daughter went on the rear seat after she's 1.5yo. I'm thinking the same for the 2nd one too. That means likely we will have to get a trailer unless we want to wait another year.
