best tires for wet road
Any recommendations? I need a 20' front wheel tire and a 26' back wheel tires for my sun easy sport ax.
Thx!

Maxxis Hookworm would be a decent choice, though they can be a bit pricey. their size also helps smooth out the ride. i get my 26x2.5 hooks off amazon, tough I have never needed to run a 20

I've been comparing wet traction on my steep driveway (with a dusting of fir needles). Unfortunately I don't have a lot of data points. Whenever I would break loose my Elimin8er tires, they would just spin with little resistance for a half pedal stroke.
On the other hand, my Marathon (700c X 25) tires would also occasionally break loose, but I could feel about 50% traction during the stroke.
I've meant to try to get some better comparative data, but don't have it yet. Soon.
I can't say my spin test was representative of all traction paradigms, but I was impressed by the improvement with the Marathon tire.

I don't imagine a recumbent tire faces the same kinds of demands as an upright bike's tires do, generally speaking, so I wonder why you think you need to select a tire specifically for wet? I mean, softer rubber compounds, like the Schwalbe Kojak (which you can get as a matched set in 20 & 26), are very good in wet, but I wonder if you'd like their other characteristics, notably, lower volume and reduced comfort and durability. I use them (20") on my mini-velo, and like their sportiness.
Schwalbe Marathons, also available in both sizes, are a very good all-around tire, and would probably meet your wet needs more than enough, yet offer great comfort, fast rolling, durability, loose surface grip, and a nice reflective strip for safety. I run 20" versions on my folding bike, and really, really like them for general use.
Schwalbe are, in my mind, probably the best tires that can be put on a bike in most situations. Lots of companies make a great tire, but Schwalbe makes many of them, with more consistently high performance than any other manufacturer. I use their One on my roadie/racer, and look forward to the S-One for my dirt road bike when those are released.

+1, I suggest tires with highly puncture resistant features , because you dont want to have to fix a flat tire in the rain.
Schwalbe Marathon Plus , when I replace tires, I buy those ,,
I have them on 349, 406, 559, & 622 rims

Schwalbe Marathon Supreme. Little heavier than Kojaks, but better grip and much better puncture protection. Have used them for years on my all weather commuter.

In the past I have commuted with Kenda Kwest 700x28c. Never had a problem in the wet or puddles. I've since been using Panaracer Ribmo 700x25 semi-slicks. Also no problems in the wet. I think thinner tires slice through water better than wide slicks and minimize hydroplaning.
