1) Several individuals, groups and companies sued Top Gear over the years for 'false portrayal'. The British courts consistently held that the program is entertaining in nature and events portrayed on the program aren't to be interpreted as factual.
2) Top Gear has since admitted they rigged & weighted that particular Reliant Robin to be extra super unstable and flip over easily.

Some may remember that when what are now 4-Wheel Utility vehicles were first produced they were 3-Wheelers. Looked very similar to the trike shown.

Had little engines and could go most anywhere. But, they were inherently unstable. Wasn't long before accidents and injuries forced manufacturers to add a wheel, making them the progenitors of the 4-wheelers we see today.

Learning from history; if you want stability, get 4 wheels. Especially if you plan on needing to go faster than kids toy speeds.

Some will say putting the 3rd wheel in the back solves the problem. Nope, just changes it. The advantage of 3rd wheel aft is lower center of gravity.

No need to be a test pilot redoing history's lessons; unless you want to be.

The big benefit to trikes is load carrying capacity--more compact than a bike and trailer, the load is low, and with gear reduction, puny humans can carry huge loads. But they were not mean to go fast.
