Aluminium bikes with Shimano 105 and $1,500 or less?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I had the Le Champion a couple years ago as my first foray into road bikes and absolutely love it. As long as you can do a bit of wrenching yourself and can dial in your fit without being able to try it first, it's a no brainer.

What did the Le Champion weight. The Ice apparently weights 16.5 pounds according to reviews.

Geez ya know I never weighed it, but, according to the specs, you'd think it'd have to be lighter? I remember being absolutely amazed when picking it up. 16lbs or lighter sounds about right. The more I look at it now, the more I'm even tempted to pick one up myself.

I had a Scott Speedster 20 as my first road bike and it's still my backup. It is a great riding frame, very fast and responsive. I upgraded the components and wheels to Ultegra and it feels even better. While I don't think you'd go wrong with the Scott I also think you can do carbon for that price or buy used aluminum for a lot less just to get on the road while you save up for what you really want.

I liked having a Scott because I felt like I was drinking something different from Coke or Pepsi and didn't see 12 different versions of the same bike at every group ride.

Last I checked a new one lists @2600. I saw a leftover last month and dealer told me 1495 for that one.

2016 Fuji Sportif 1.0 LE

I Purchased a 2016 Fuji Sportif 1.0 LE on June 11, 2016 during the triple points event

I also considered the Giant AnyRoad 1, Specialized Diverge Elite DSW, Trek Crossrip 2, and
the Cannondale CADDX, and a few others.

The deal from Performance Bike seems too good to be true, I took the chance based on the satisfaction guarantee (for 100% refund return within one year) offered by Performance Bike

Paid $999.99 plus state sales tax and got $300 worth of accessories, gear, apparel, etc.

+1 on this. Speedster, CR1 , and Solace.....all three are nice choices that may be just a bit different from all the rest at the group ride, if that's what you're after. Good choice for those in the know!

You could also get a bowman palace build it up with 105 and, I'm sure, come under 1500. The frame is pure sex.
